CDL Training Program

Class A CDL License & Truck Driver Training

The CDL-A Truck Driver Training Program is designed to prepare students for the Indiana CDL examination. Driving time includes 30-46 hours of over-the-road and range instruction, utilizing a one-on-one delivery.

Throughout this five-week course, students will learn:

​

  • Basic Operations: Control Systems, Vehicle Inspections, Basic Control, Shifting, Backing, Coupling/Uncoupling, Basic Control, Special Rigs

  • Safe Operating Practices: Visual Search, Communication, Speed Management, Night Operation, Extreme Driving Conditions, Proficiency

  • Development (Safe Operating Practices), Truck Safety at Railroad Crossings

  • Advanced Operating Practices: Hazard Perception, Emergency Maneuvers, Skid Control and Recovery

  • Vehicle Maintenance: Vehicle Systems, Preventive Maintenance and Servicing Diagnosing and Reporting Malfunctions

  • Non-Vehicle Activities: Handling Cargo, Cargo Documentation, Hours of Service Requirements, Accident Procedures, Personal Health and Safety, Trip-Planning, Public and Employee Relations, International Border Crossing Procedures, Driver Dispatch Relations, DOT

  • Rules and Regulations

  • Preparation for CDL Examination: General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles, Doubles and Triples, Tank Trucks, Hazardous Materials
